5 Drivers of the addiction economy
Addiction Economy Thought for Today - the 5 Drivers of the Addiction Economy and how corporations co-opt other addiction vulnerabilities to cause addiction.
Joe Woof and I are excited to post the final draft of our White Paper on the Economic Drivers of Addiction.
We have added a 5th driver 'Inescapable Availability' which came up time and again in our reading and conversations.
The Economic Model of Addiction is at the heart of our 5 Models Framework which also includes the Social, Psychological, Biological and Moral Models - based on research into addiction in academia and even The Real World!
We are now exploring in depth each of the drivers and the policy responses which could be used to dismantle the addiction economy, together with case studies on each. Following our work on Ultra-Processed Foods, next will be Vapes, then Social Media. Busy busy!
Here's the White Paper. Please feel free to share and to comment below or in DM.
