The Power of Evidence and Visualization in Public Health Advocacy

Addiction Economy Thought for Today - about the importance of evidence and the power of graphics.

I'm just doing a thing on the 18th century Gin Craze and comparisons to now. One of the important drivers for properly thought through action was the gathering of evidence of harm. Similarly with cigarettes, UPF, alcohol and gambling. well presented knowledge and evidence is really helping politicians feel brave enough take positive steps to support public health. Not enough, but more than before.

A bit tangential, but a piece in the BBC here about the closing of the last coal fired power station which uses this, to me, interesting graphic I've never seen before.

I don't know about you, but if asked to guess the % of UK electricity generated by different areas I wouldn't have said that. Gas is still a problem and oil used for so many other things, but I think still surprising and a reason for some celebration.
