Rising Concerns Over Youth Vaping: ASH Research Highlights Risks

Addiction Economy Thought for Today - new research from ASH showing that
one million youngsters tried vaping this year. Perhaps my imagination but I slightly different tone here, and they didn't put I the usual 'but they are great to help smokers' at the end which isa step in the right direction.

Doctors on it too, although stating the bleedin obvious that has been clear to anyone who has spent any time among people. for a number of years!

Dr Mike McKean, vice president of policy at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH)

“At the end of the day, vaping is not risk free and very often addictive. I’m concerned that we have allowed e-cigarette companies free reign to target our children with these brightly coloured, flavoured, appealing and potentially damaging products.

We really hate this term 'risk-free' which associates with free of risk more than it does potential for harm.

‘are already causing significant respiratory problems, anxiety, depression and addiction in many children and young people ’ or something like that.

Professor David Strain, board of science chairman at the British Medical Association....

“It’s clear that hundreds of thousands of children are not using vapes and e-cigarettes to quit smoking; instead, they are picking up an addictive habit that could lead to psychological and physical damage, with an increasing level of dependency.”

Glad to see ASH onto it considering from previous posts they were in our view pushing the pro-vape for smoking line a bit too hard without due focus on the real targets of vaping companies - the young.
